Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the VRE (Virtual Runtime Engine) software, APIs, documentation, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service") provided by CodeVRE ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Agreement to terms
By accessing codevre.dev, embedding the VRE runtime in your application, or using our API, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old (or have the legal capacity to enter binding contracts in your jurisdiction), and that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you are accessing the Service on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms, in which case "you" refers to that entity.
The VRE runtime license
Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of any applicable fees, CodeVRE grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to:
- Embed and execute the VRE runtime script (
vre.min.js/vre.esm.js) in your web applications for the purpose of running browser-side frontend previews. - Access and call the VRE API methods as documented at /docs/.
- Use the Service for lawful commercial and non-commercial purposes within the usage limits of your plan.
This license does not include the right to distribute, resell, sublicense, white-label, or create derivative products based on the VRE runtime without a separate written commercial agreement with CodeVRE.
Intellectual property
The VRE runtime engine, its source code (whether obfuscated or not), compiled output, API design, architecture, documentation, trademarks, trade names, logos, and all related intellectual property are the exclusive property of CodeVRE and are protected by copyright, trade secret, and other applicable intellectual property laws.
The copyright notice embedded in the runtime distribution ("© 2026 CodeVRE. All rights reserved.") is a legally operative notice and must not be removed, obscured, or altered in any copy or distribution of the runtime files.
Your content. You retain all rights to the code, files, and content you load into and execute within the VRE runtime. You grant CodeVRE no rights to your content beyond what is technically necessary to provide the Service.
Feedback. Any suggestions, ideas, or feedback you provide about the Service may be used by CodeVRE without restriction and without compensation to you.
Prohibited conduct
You must not, and must not permit any third party to:
- Reverse engineer the VRE runtime — including but not limited to decompiling, disassembling, de-obfuscating, or otherwise attempting to derive source code or underlying algorithms from the compiled or distributed runtime files.
- Copy or reproduce the runtime, its architecture, or any substantial portion thereof for the purpose of building a competing or derivative product.
- Modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the runtime files without express written permission from CodeVRE.
- Remove or alter any copyright, proprietary, or attribution notices embedded in the runtime files.
- Circumvent access controls — including but not limited to bypassing the runtime token exchange, spoofing owner IDs, or otherwise accessing the Service without valid authorization.
- Redistribute or resell the VRE runtime files as a standalone product, SaaS offering, or embedded component in another commercial runtime without a written reseller agreement.
- Use the Service to transmit malware, conduct denial-of-service attacks, or otherwise harm CodeVRE's infrastructure or other users.
- Use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
Accounts & access keys
To use certain features of the Service you must register for an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials, API keys, and owner ID. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
API keys are confidential. Your private CodeVRE API keys must never be exposed in client-side code, public repositories, or browser bundles. You are solely responsible for any unauthorized use resulting from your failure to keep keys secure.
You must notify us immediately at legal@codevre.dev if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account or API keys.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that show signs of unauthorized use, abuse, or violation of these Terms.
Payments & billing
Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. All fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law or as expressly stated in our pricing terms. We reserve the right to change pricing with at least 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.
Failure to pay may result in suspension or downgrade of your account. Taxes, if applicable, are your responsibility.
Service availability
We provide the Service on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure access to the Service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice where practicable.
Planned maintenance will be communicated in advance where possible. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from Service unavailability.
Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, THAT IT WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CODEVRE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS PAID BY YOU TO CODEVRE IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities, so the above limitations may not apply to you in full.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CodeVRE and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights; or (d) any content you load or execute within the VRE runtime.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately and without notice if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent or illegal activity, or pose a risk to the Service or other users.
Upon termination: your license to use the runtime ends immediately; you must cease all use of the runtime files; provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, and 12) shall survive.
Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent irreparable harm — including in cases of IP infringement or breach of Section 4.
You agree that any dispute resolution will be conducted on an individual basis and not as a class or representative action.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email or by prominent notice on the site at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
